Laurent Valera is born in 1972 in Langon. Actually he is working and leaving in Bordeaux.

An engineering Graduate of The engineering School and of the Beaux Arts (the Art school) in Bordeaux, this artist worked firstable in the building trade.

This raw material is the contact point of his work, the space, the colour are constituent of his artistic choice.

He starts with a general view and comes near the nucleus of the material.

Since 2000, he forms part of the Maison des Artistes (The House of the Artists).

 

The first serie « Humanité » ( Humanity) in 2001/2002 is a set of portrait, which are very expressive, they reveal already the protocol of his work.

 

Go into all the details, the sensation, the flow …

Firstable the work is spontaneous and instinctive even physical.

With a large and liberated body language.

The look, omnipresent come into the work to merge with it then the backing allow the reflection and the evolution of the project.

Connection is created between the works, sensations and will to share.

Go into the work, the material to can extract the essence to fell the rhythm.

Start again and again and create new series. Set of works, which are refining, purifying.

 

The fluidity of the fossil concrete: a hymn to life

In 2004, Laurent VALERA creates series made by concrete « stele ».

Blend background and form in a same material.

Come directly into the material (face…) in the fresh concrete, creation of stele with fingerprints and vegetable. Pigments, paintings and colored oils are finishing the work of these monoliths. Grey colours, the mass, the block effect of the concrete material to counterbalance the nature and the life.

 The concrete become fluid and aerial it making way for the fossil energy of these bodies and these vegetables making way for life.

 

 From the approach of detail to a microscopic view

2005/2006 creation of the serie « barres ». That is a breaking with the figuration.

More scientific, this serie, which is near the idea of thin strip of microscope, figures the living through the verticality.

2007: « énergie » « energy »…

 This serie is an explosion of the serie « Barres ».

After this explosion of that form, this artist is going into the free and fluid material.

He wants to reach the cell ladder of things and of the living.

Here everything is running, circulating and moving. Cells are running in a flow of energy. This energy white and bright irrigates them or maybe is it the opposite?

 

A universal energy of cells

This last idea brings Laurent VALERA to start a new phase of work: to bring out the universal side of each thing with an energetic connection with each one.

They are united by the cell or the cell phase. Everything is cell.

Our life is very close of this superimposition of cell forms of lines of cell. Energies are connected to became the flow.

Works:

 

November 2006 : creation of a visual of a bus ticket of the Bus of modern art of Bordeaux.

 

February 2007: exhibition of one work at the museum Musée d’Aquitaine of Bordeaux within the framework of « un artiste au Musée » (an artist in a museum).

 

February 2007 : painting of « spirit of Pauillac », command of the town of Pauillac for all the communication for the year  2007.

 

From May to October 2007: exhibition of the serie « barres » at the Maison du Tourisme et du Vin of Pauillac.

 

From September to October 2007: exhibition of the work « spirit of Pauillac» at the Maison d’Aquitaine in Paris within the framework of “Art and Wine” in the Médoc area.

 

From November to December 2007: exhibition of the serie « barres » in Pullach in Germany.
